3 Important Guidelines to Follow as a Baby Christian

Important Christian Guidelines

Being a Christian is the greatest struggle a young person has to face in this modern society. More than 85% of Americans are born in Christian households. In 2020, less than 50% of American adults identify as Christian. Due to this, it is important that we as Christians do not waiver in our foundations and continue to stay disciplined in the word of God. Through my research, I have curated a list of 3 basic principles that can aid any young Christian on their walk with God.

1. Know Your Testimony

Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,

Our testimony is the most powerful tool God gave us. As a result, it is imperative that we learn how to utilize that tool for the goodness of God. If you’re having trouble identifying your testimony think of it like this: A testimony is a story of what the Lord has done for you. For example, helping you get out of bed in the morning, a story of you landing a new job, or even something more dramatic like surviving a car accident. These are all examples of the grace of God and as Christians. In addition, it is our duty to use these personal stories to remind us of the goodness of God and also to help win souls to Christ.

2. Join a Church

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

Hebrews 10:24-25(ESV)

Contrary to popular belief a church is not the building you decide to go to on a Sunday, it is the community of Christians that reside in said building. In fact, the word “church” is a translation of the Greek word ekklesia. Which can be defined as “a called out assembly or congregation”. Being a part of a church is equivalent to being a part of a brother/sisterhood. It is a great environment for young Christians to hold each other accountable and serve the Lord in unison.

3. Read the Bible

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

If you are a Christian, the Bible is your guideline for life. Today, it is still the greatest book of all time because it is truly timeless. It contains information about the past, present, and future. For us Christians, It gives several different of how we should live our lives and what God can do for us if we put our faith and trust in him. Now I’m not saying this to say everyone needs to be a bible scholar. Knowledge is power, and the more you know the more powerful your message will come across. Furthermore, reading the Bible isn’t easy, it’s best to pick a version that is easy to understand as a beginner. Being open to discussing confusing verses can help tremendously in understanding.
